I generally don't enjoy traveling. I like being home. However, this piece you wrote, Toktokkie (Africa I) makes me feel the beauty, the warmth and the depth of your experience, almost to the point of wishing I had been there with you. I loved everything you shared, especially about the small being in all its glory.
What an amazing experience for you and your sons! South Africa is on my bucket list. I had the incredible good fortune of being in a Desmond Tutu class years ago at Candler.

Thank you, Jane. I always appreciate your thoughtful comments. We little creatures (people under 5"1') have to shine in our glory, don't we? :)
Becky,
A very crafty little poem, like the critter itself. And very speakable!
Thanks, David!

If you make it to South Africa, Debbie, I recommend a trek to Namibia. It really was the best trip of my life. And Lourens is the best tour guide!
I LOVE THIS!!! What an amazing little critter & what an amazing life experience in Africa.
It is truly incredible there. You have to go, Becki. Let me know - I’ll join you!
The toktok beetle as a way into processing Africa as an experience - it works!
Thanks, Miriam! I'm missing my new little friend, and Africa! Next time I'll hop over a little further and visit some Aussie friends...
Let me know if you ever make it all the way to Perth in far-flung Western Australia!
