(taking the Nestea Plunge with friends in Puerto Rico a few years back)
I’m here to practice writing…
…and invite you to join me on the journey. After thirty years working as a classical soprano, I'm feeling my creative energies pulled in this new direction with a power that’s been interrupting my sleep and making me forget to shower. It's time to stop resisting this urge and surrender like Cher to Nicholas Cage in Moonlighting ("Fine! Take me to the bed!").
1. No time like the present
We all know what it's like to wait so long until you're ready that you never do the thing, like becoming a parent (which I'm so glad I finally did). Ready never comes, but I'm plunging in anyway.
<<Splash>>.
2. Come on in. The water’s fine.
This practice requires getting my words out there on a regular basis, and engaging with others. So sincere thanks to you for being here.
3. What to expect (since we’re all expecting)
As a reader you'll encounter everything from flash essays and micro memoir, to poetry (mostly by me in a free fall of rookie love for this practice), to thoughts about writing, singing, faith, and life, ideas on bridge-building (a passion of mine), occasional interviews with people I find fascinating, and hopefully, in time, some fiction.
4. Thanks for my giants and your shoulders
I intend to dedicate every post to someone who has contributed to its meaning or to my adventure. If I ever forget, you're encouraged to send me a virtual rolling pin whomp over the head. Let's face it, gentle reminders are anything but gentle.
And this welcome post is dedicated to my wonderful mom, who just celebrated her birthday. This is for you, Mama!!
I'm glad you are here. Welcome!
(where I used to sing to the cows)
5. Up next—
Dedications and a pastiche. Any day now so keep that breath bated!
Courtenay,
You GO Girl❣️
Those lucky cows! I’m glad to see you posting!!!!
